Funding their future

Young people in Hackney face an increasing range of problems in their stressed and pressured inner-city lives. We believe they show tremendous courage by coming to Off Centre. They show a determination to deal with their issues, and they deserve a chance to succeed. But they need your support. Please help us to:

  • continue funding our general counselling work.
  • fund our volunteer project. We have 12 volunteer counsellors and therapists training with us. We want to ensure the creative development of volunteers and paid staff.
  • reduce waiting lists and provide regular counselling within two to four weeks of initial contact. Expanding our volunteer project will ensure our waiting list is kept down.
  • expand our creative therapy work among young people who have been sexually abused, or have learning or emotional difficulties. For some young people using words to express themselves can be very difficult. Creative therapy offers a positive and vital alternative.
  • respond more quickly to the needs of young people from black and ethnic minority groups by making counselling more accessible.
  • refurbish our building so that it is fully wheelchair accessible and more comfortable for young people.
